Loei Province participated in a workshop to promote the implementation of the liver fluke and bile duct cancer screening project funded by the Sub-district Health Insurance Fund.
On February 18, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, in collaboration with the Disease Control and Prevention Office Region 8, Udon Thani Province, and the Loei Provincial Public Health Office, organized a workshop to promote the implementation of the liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma screening project funded by the Sub-district Health Insurance Fund. The workshop was held at the Chaiyaphruk Meeting Room, 1st floor, Loei Palace Hotel, Loei Province.
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Saman Futrakul, Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 8, Udon Thani Province, who presided over the event.
The event included a lecture on the topic of sustainable management of liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Acting Director of the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University.
Situation and approaches to eliminating liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma, by Mr. Boonthien Asarin, Senior Public Health Professional.
Innovative liver fluke screening method by Prof. Dr. Paiboon Sittithavorn, Head Researcher and Developer of the rapid liver fluke detection kit (OV ATK).
The afternoon session involved training on entering high-risk group data for screening via the Line Liff system, led by Dr. Chaiwat Thawarungruang, a programmer at the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute.
And practical training on the use of the OV ATK ready-to-use liver fluke diagnostic kit, where participants practiced using the kit themselves.
