The Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute held a meeting to review lessons learned in implementing waste management measures to sustainably break the liver fluke life cycle.
On March 5, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Institute, held a meeting to exchange ideas and share lessons learned on sustainable waste management strategies to break the liver fluke disease cycle. Mr. Suthinan Boonmee, Chairman of the Regional Health Committee for the People, Region 7 (RHCP 7), presided over the opening ceremony at the Suphannika Room, Rachawadee Resort and Hotel.
The meeting brought together experts and stakeholders involved in driving waste management initiatives from the Regional Health Committee for the People, Region 7; the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute; the Faculty of Public Health, Khon Kaen University; the Strategic Management Group, Central Northeastern Provinces; Public Health Center 7, Khon Kaen; Public Health Center 8, Udon Thani; the Nong Khai Provincial Public Health Office; the Khon Kaen Provincial Public Health Office; and representatives from the Provincial Local Administration Promotion Offices of Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, and Maha Sarakham, totaling 25 people. The meeting aimed to exchange ideas and draw lessons learned, leading to concrete approaches at both the local and policy levels. This will facilitate the work of local administrative organizations, as directly responsible, and foster a collaborative network for addressing liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma through sustainable waste management development.
