On March 6, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Institute, participated in the opening ceremony of the wastewater treatment plant project of the Na Nang Subdistrict Administrative Organization. Mr. Somphop Samitasiri, Governor of Nong Khai Province, presided over the opening ceremony. Mr. Natthakorn Kuldechsiriwat gave the report. Also in attendance were Ms. Aowadee Sunthornwipat, Inspector of the Department of Local Administration; Mr. Suthinan Boonmee, Chairman of the Regional Health for the People, Region 7; Mr. Charasphong Khamdokrab, Head of Local Administration, Nong Khai Province; members of the Nong Khai Provincial Waste and Refuse Management Committee; heads of government departments; the District Chief of Phon Phisai; local administration officials from Phon Phisai District; mayors of local administrative organizations in Nong Khai Province; village heads; village health volunteers; and residents of Phon Phisai District. The ceremony and tour of the wastewater treatment plant took place at the Ban Mai Phothichai wastewater treatment plant, Moo 11, Na Nang Subdistrict, Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province.
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom gave a presentation on liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma, and organized a mobile screening unit for liver fluke testing using the OV ATK ready-to-use test kit for attendees. A total of 336 people received the service, and 247 were found to be infected with liver fluke (73.51%). This screening was facilitated by staff from the Khon Kaen Provincial Public Health Office, the Nong Khai Provincial Public Health Office, and Wattana Health Lab Medical Technology Clinic.
