On March 29, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Institute, in collaboration with Nong Khai Province and the Nong Khai Provincial Public Health Office, provided liver fluke screening services to Buddhist monks in Nong Khai Province. Mr. Somphop Samitasiri, Governor of Nong Khai Province, presided over the event. Dr. Surapong Padungwiang, Provincial Public Health Officer of Nong Khai, gave a report, and Phra Thep Wachirakhun, Assoc. Prof. Dr., Chief Monk of Nong Khai Province and Abbot of Wat Pho Chai Royal Monastery, delivered a congratulatory speech at Wat Pho Chai Royal Monastery, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nong Khai Province.
The screening service was conducted under the project to provide health checkups for monks in remote areas of Nong Khai Province. A total of 135 monks and novices were screened, and 105 were found to be infected with liver fluke, representing 77.78%. They have already received treatment. On this occasion, staff from Wattana Health Lab, a medical technology clinic, also participated in the screening.
