On April 21, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Institute, in collaboration with the Disease Control and Prevention Office Region 7, Khon Kaen Province, and the Khon Kaen Provincial Public Health Office, organized a workshop on the use of liver fluke screening tools, database management, and data utilization to address liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in Health Region 7. Dr. Apichai Limanont, Provincial Public Health Officer of Khon Kaen, presided over the opening ceremony at the Napalai Meeting Room, Rachawadee Resort and Hotel, Khon Kaen Province.
Today's training was held to demonstrate the use of tools for registration, data recording, and tracking of at-risk groups for liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma using the LINE LIFF Application and the Isan cohort system. It also included an explanation of the at-risk group registration plan for staff at sub-district health promotion hospitals, community hospitals, district public health offices, and local administrative organization officials in Khon Kaen Province.
In addition, the institute also provided liver fluke screening services using the OV ATK rapid test kit to conference attendees. 49 people received the service, and 9 were found to be infected with liver flukes, representing 18.37%, who have since received treatment.
