Nong Khai continues its efforts: "Upskilling Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) to prepare for 100% verbal screening and OV testing throughout the province."

The Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, in collaboration with the Nong Khai Provincial Public Health Office, organized a "Workshop on Using Screening Tools for Liver Fluke Disease and Cholangiocarcinoma in Nong Khai Province" for public health officials, including village health volunteers, sub-district health promotion hospitals, primary care units, district public health offices, and hospitals in Nong Khai Province. The workshop was held from August 13-15, 2025, in the districts of Si Chiang Mai, Sarakai, Mueang Nong Khai, and Sangkhom, with over 700 participants.
The workshop was held to disseminate accurate knowledge about liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma, clarify guidelines and techniques for verbal screening of at-risk groups, and screening for liver fluke infection from urine using the rapid OV-ATK test kit. The goal was for public health officials, especially village health volunteers, to be able to communicate this knowledge to their communities, raising awareness and leading to effective screening of at-risk groups for liver fluke disease. Following this, a coordinated verbal screening of at-risk groups will be conducted, resulting in the creation of risk maps to plan proactive liver fluke screening in each area.
