"The Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, in collaboration with the Mahasarakham Provincial Health Office, exchanged knowledge on OV-CCA in the Nadun area."
On August 29, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, in collaboration with the Communicable Disease Control Unit of the Maha Sarakham Provincial Public Health Office, organized a meeting to exchange knowledge on addressing liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in high-prevalence areas of Maha Sarakham Province. The meeting was held at the auditorium of Dong Bang Phisai Navakanuson School, Dong Bang Subdistrict, Na Dun District, Maha Sarakham Province.
The event began with an opening ceremony presided over by Dr. Pitakpong Payuha, Provincial Public Health Officer of Maha Sarakham, followed by a report from Dr. Hatcha Nueythong, Medical Specialist (Preventive Medicine) of the Maha Sarakham Provincial Public Health Office. This was followed by a lecture on the topic of “Knowledge of Liver Fluke Disease and Cholangiocarcinoma: Towards a Liver Fluke-Free District” by Prof. Dr. Paiboon Sitthithavorn, researcher and advisor at the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute. The Institute also presented an exhibition on liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma, innovative liver fluke detection methods, and a training course on immunization against liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma. Furthermore, OV-ATK liver fluke screening services were offered to participants. The event was attended by over 250 people, including public health officials, community hospital staff, district public health office staff, tambon health promotion hospital staff, local administrative organizations, community leaders, village health volunteers, and students.
