On September 1, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Institute, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Attapol Titapan, Head of the Cholangiocarcinoma Center of Excellence at Srinakarin Hospital, together with the International Health Policy Development Foundation (IHPP Foundation), led by Dr. Viroj Tangcharoensathien, Vice President of IHPP, and Dr. Walaiporn Patcharanarumol, held a meeting to discuss the "Thailand Free from Liver Fluke Disease, No Deaths from Cholangiocarcinoma" initiative at the meeting room of the Medical Science Building, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University.
This meeting was held to gain a better understanding of the project proposals under the "Thailand Free from Liver Fluke Disease, No Deaths from Cholangiocarcinoma" program, to analyze the alignment and effectiveness of the projects, and to plan the development of project implementation guidelines to achieve the overall objectives of the program. A total of 7 projects and issues were discussed, namely:
1. Evaluation of the implementation of the strategic plan for eliminating liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma, 2016-2025.
2. Action research for solving the problems of liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in Health Regions 7, 8, 9, and 10.
3. Raising public awareness to prevent liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma.
4. Enhancing the capacity of public health volunteers for screening at-risk groups for liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma.
5. Establishing a sanitation system to create an environment free from liver fluke parasites.
6. Project to promote the production of food free from liver fluke parasites and...
7. Project for the Evaluation of the Self-Testing Kit for Liver Fluke Screening (OV-ATK)
