Creating new health media to campaign for reducing the risk of liver fluke disease and bile duct cancer: a project involving 35 educational institutions in upper Northeastern Thailand.

The Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharin Loylom, Acting Director of the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University, participated in providing knowledge about liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in the activity “Creating New Generation Health Media: Campaigning to Reduce the Risk of Liver Fluke Disease and Cholangiocarcinoma.” This activity was organized by the National Health Commission Office (NHCO) in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHPF) Media and Arts for Health Promotion Program, the National Research Council of Thailand, and the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University. The workshop focused on new generation health media in educational institutions and innovative communication campaigns for change in the upper northeastern region of Thailand, held from September 18-20, 2025, at the Rachawadee Hotel, Khon Kaen.
Mr. Suthinan Boonmee, a member of the National Health Commission, chaired this training session.
During this event, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute registered 45 people for liver fluke screening using the OV ATK test kit. 18 people (40%) were found to be infected with liver flukes.
