"The Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute conducted screening for liver fluke in Nasaythong town, Laos."
The Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, in collaboration with the Lao Institute of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (Lao TPHI), conducted a field visit from October 1-10, 2025, to register and collect specimens for liver fluke screening among the residents of Na Say Thong town (10 villages), Vientiane Capital, Laos, targeting over 1,000 people.
This initiative brought together over 20 personnel from both countries, including representatives from the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University; the Lao Institute of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (Lao TPHI); the Public Health Department of Vientiane Capital Province; and Nasaythong Community Hospital. Following this, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute will conduct bile duct cancer screening using ultrasound, perform surgical treatment for bile duct cancer patients, and train treatment teams to enhance the skills of personnel in Laos.
