On October 3, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Institute, participated in the opening ceremony of the sewage treatment plant project of Wang Luang Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The ceremony was attended by Ms. Pranee Wongbut, Deputy Governor of Nong Khai Province; Mr. Phua Phusirith, Mayor of Wang Luang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, who gave a report; Mr. Charasphong Khamdokrab, Head of Local Administration, Nong Khai Province; Mr. Sittisan Thrapsirisopa, Deputy Provincial Public Health Officer, Nong Khai Province; executives from the Nong Khai Provincial Land Office; the Fao Rai District Public Health Office; staff from subdistrict health centers in Fao Rai District; village heads; village health volunteers; and residents of Wang Luang Subdistrict. The opening ceremony and tour of the sewage treatment plant took place at the Na Phaeng Village, Moo 3, Wang Luang Subdistrict, Fao Rai District, Nong Khai Province.
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom gave a presentation on liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma, and organized a mobile screening unit for liver fluke testing using the OV-ATK ready-to-use test kit for the residents of Wang Luang Subdistrict and attendees. A total of 319 people received the service, and 198 were found to be infected with liver fluke (62.07%), who have already received treatment.
