"Nong Khai continues its efforts, conducting OV-CCA screening in Phon Phisai District to address the problem comprehensively."
On December 15, 2025, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharin Loylochom, Director of the Institute, in collaboration with the Nong Khai Provincial Public Health Office, Phon Phisai Hospital, and the Phon Phisai District Public Health Office, organized the “Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province Liver Fluke and Cholangiocarcinoma Screening Campaign.” The event was presided over by Dr. Surapong Padungwiang, Provincial Public Health Officer of Nong Khai. Ms. Narinthip Ritthiti, Director of Phon Phisai Hospital, gave a report. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharin Loylochom spoke about the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute's support in addressing liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in Nong Khai Province. Ms. Ketkaew Changlek, Deputy District Chief of Phon Phisai (acting on behalf of the District Chief), gave a welcoming speech. The event was held at the Setthikanyarat Auditorium, Wat Tha Li Sri Sa-at, Chum Chang Subdistrict, Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province.
This event is scheduled to take place from December 15-17, 2025, for a total of 3 days. It will provide bile duct cancer screening using ultrasound services to 2,000 residents of Phon Phisai District. There will also be an awareness campaign on liver fluke disease and bile duct cancer through exhibitions throughout the event. Following this, liver fluke screening using the OV-ATK ready-to-use test kit will be offered to people aged 15 years and older between December 23, 2025, and January 20, 2026, targeting a total of over 18,000 people.
