On January 6, 2026, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Institute, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Atthaphol Titapan, Head of the Cholangiocarcinoma Center of Excellence at Srinakarin Hospital and a member of the Institute's board, held a meeting with Udon Thani Cancer Hospital, led by Dr. Thiti Ungaree, Director of Udon Thani Cancer Hospital, and Dr. Krittiya Butthongkhamwong, Deputy Director for Medical Affairs, to discuss strategies for addressing liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma. The meeting took place in the conference room of Udon Thani Cancer Hospital.
The meeting resolved to organize a capacity building project for the care of bile duct cancer patients at Udon Thani Cancer Hospital from January 29-31, 2026. The aim is to enhance the capabilities of personnel and service units involved in the screening and treatment of bile duct cancer patients, create a comprehensive care team, elevate the hospital's treatment standards, and ultimately become a center for bile duct cancer surgery and treatment. This will expand access to services for the public more comprehensively.
Furthermore, the institute also supported the operations of Udon Thani Cancer Hospital by participating in a mobile clinic providing screening services for liver fluke and bile duct cancer at the 2nd Specialized Medical Health Fair on January 26, 2026, at Nawang Chalerm Phra Kiat 80th Anniversary Hospital, Nong Bua Lamphu Province.
