Reporting on the operations to address liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in Roi Et Province.

On February 9, 2026, at 2:30 PM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wacharin Loylom, Director of the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University, along with Dr. Hirunwut Phraekuntham, Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 7, Khon Kaen, Dr. Saowaluk Khachamat, Senior Public Health Specialist (Assistant Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 7, Khon Kaen), and Dr. Kittisak Phanompong, Deputy Provincial Public Health Officer of Roi Et Province, met with Mr. Chatchawal Benjasiriwong, Governor of Roi Et Province, to present the operational plan for an action research project to address liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in Health Regions 7, 8, 9, and 10. This project will focus on screening at-risk groups for liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma in Roi Et Province.
Mr. Chatchawal Benjasiriwong, Governor of Roi Et Province, recognized the problem of liver fluke disease and bile duct cancer as significant issues for the province. Therefore, he has taken note of this problem and provided support for efforts within the province to ensure that the people of Roi Et are free from liver fluke disease and bile duct cancer.
