Proactive screening in Khon Kaen city area.
On February 25, 2026, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University; the Cholangiocarcinoma Center of Excellence, Srinakarin Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University; and the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, in collaboration with Khon Kaen Fishing Net Co., Ltd., Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, organized a liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma screening event at the company's premises.
This event included liver fluke screening using the OVATK rapid urine test kit. A total of 203 people were screened, with 20 (9.9%) found to be infected with liver flukes. Additionally, 211 people were screened for bile duct cancer, with 4 (1.90%) suspected cases and 9 cases referred for other reasons.
