On March 19, 2026, the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Watcharin Loylom, Director of the Cholangiocarcinoma Research Institute, Khon Kaen University, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, in collaboration with the Kok Pho Chai District Quality of Life Committee, Kok Pho Chai Hospital, Kok Pho Chai District Public Health Office, Khon Kaen Provincial Public Health Office, and the Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization, organized the Cholangiocarcinoma Screening Project in Kok Pho Chai District, Khon Kaen Province. The screening took place from March 17-20, 2026, at Kok Pho Chai Suksa School, Kok Pho Chai District, Khon Kaen Province.
On March 19, 2026, the opening ceremony of the event was held. Mr. Boonrod Khaokhao, District Chief of Khok Pho Chai, gave a welcoming speech. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Prachuap Rakpaet, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province. Ms. Duangkhai Arnnoporn, Deputy Chairperson of the Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization, spoke about the organization's participation in driving the policy of eradicating liver fluke disease and cholangiocarcinoma from 2016 to 2025. Dr. Thiw Udchachon then presented a report on the organization of this event.
This activity, which included screenings from March 17-20, 2026, was made possible thanks to the assistance of doctors and nurses from Srinakarin Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University; Chum Phae Hospital; Khon Kaen Hospital; and Manjakiri Hospital. A total of 1,326 people underwent bile duct cancer screening via ultrasound. 38 individuals (2.687%) were identified as suspected of having bile duct cancer (Suspected CCA), and 37 were referred for other reasons.
